I got disconnected / server crash
Star Citizen changes with every patch: double-check in game.
Open the interactive diagnosis →Where were you when you disconnected? (Error 30000, the infamous "30k", means the server crashed or your connection timed out.)
In my ship, in flight
Recover after a disconnect in flight
- Restart the game and reconnect quickly.
- If the server is still up, you may respawn near your position.
- Otherwise, you respawn at your last regen point. If the ASOP terminal shows "Claim" instead of "Retrieve", don't claim right away: wait 5 to 10 minutes, the server may recover your ship and its cargo.
Copilot's noteThe faster you come back, the better your chances of picking up where you were.
On foot, on a mission
Resume a mission after a disconnect
- Reconnect and open the mobiGlas contract manager to see if the mission is still active.
- If the mission is still there, carry on as normal.
- If it's gone or stuck, abandon it and take a new one.
- Your worn gear may have stayed behind: a marker may show you where.
Carrying valuable cargo
Cargo after a disconnect
- Reconnect ASAP and check whether your ship is still where you left it.
- Wait 5 to 10 minutes before claiming: the ship may come back. If you do have to claim it, the cargo is lost.
- Next time: split your big investments across several runs.
Copilot's noteThat's the main risk of trading: never invest more than you can afford to lose.
A server crash message is showing, the game is frozen
Wait for the server to recover
- Don't quit the game: it's a server crash, not your connection.
- Wait: when the server restarts, the game picks up where it left off.
- If nothing happens after several minutes, reconnect.
Copilot's noteQuitting too early can lose you your position: patience pays off.
